Net Worth Update 55: Burn Rate

July 7, 2022 by Mr. Heartland on FIRE

Whoa! We’re halfway there! Whaoohh! ’22 is on a tear!

Wow… that was bad. Kind of like our financial performance in June. Read on for a short, and not-so-sweet summary!

You can check the latest and greatest info on the Track Our Progress page.

First, the numbers:

Net Worth:

  • End of June Balance: $972,655 down $49,742
  • Year to Date (YTD): Down $92,063 (-8.7%)
  • Since January 2018 (this is when I started tracking our net worth): Up $667,655

Portfolio:

  • End of June Balance: $736,542 Down $58,055
  • YTD: Down $137,718 (-15.8%)*
  • Since January 2018: Up $496,542*

*All numbers above include contributions and are not indicative of investment returns.

How’s our portfolio doing, you ask?

Literally, everything is down again.  With the exception of our house value.  Oh well, sometimes it do be like that.

June Highlights

Big Spending

June was a month of big spending.  Like, a whole lotta spending.

  • We purchased Disney tickets for the family for our fall trip. Cha Ching.
  • Our lawnmower shot craps, so we bought a new one.  Cha Ching.
  • For our oldest daughter’s birthday, we bought her a loft bed.  Cha Ching.
  • Lots of spending for her birthday party, Father’s Day, and other family birthdays.  Cha Ching.
  • We bought cabinets and the vanity top for our bathroom remodeling project.  Cha Ching.
  • Car insurance was due and went up significantly.  (new truck, doh!)  Cha Ching.
  • Our dog went in for a dental cleaning and had 12 teeth removed Double Cha Ching.

How we handled money in June.

Whew boy! That was a lot of spending. Hopefully, things even out a bit in July.

Coming Up in July

We planned to start the bathroom remodel in June but got delayed.  So we will be hitting it hard in July.  We also have a couple weekend trips planned in the RV.  Fingers crossed that everyone stays healthy and the weather holds out.

Thanks for reading.
